Community Revitalization
Rural Community Alliance facilitates grass-roots led community revitalization projects in low-wealth Arkansas communities with less than 3,000 in population. RCA assists residents in completing a community assessment to evaluate assets and opportunities. A holistic approach is used with community members serving on focus groups in the areas of Economic Development, Education, Arts & Heritage, Natural Resources, City Beautification, and Community Services. The focus groups make recommendations which are then prioritized by community members and the result is used to draft a strategic plan for the community. Community members take action steps to reach the goals in the Strategic Plan.
In fall 2011 RCA is launching a regional revitalization project with the Ozarks as the inaugural region. Stay tuned for more information about Ozark Byways. A Delta Regional Project is scheduled for launch in fall 2012.
Rural Community Alliance’s Community Revitalization Project is provided through the financial support of the following funders:
Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. In 1974 the Trustees of Governor Winthrop Rockefeller’s Estate endowed the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation to continue the Governor’s philanthropic work. Today, the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation is a private foundation whose mission is to improve the lives of Arkansans. Additional information about the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation can be found on its website, www.wrfoundation.org.
Marguerite Casey Foundation. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the Foundation was created by Casey Family Programs in 2001 to help expand Casey’s outreach and further enhance its 40-year record of leadership in family well-being. Marguerite Casey Foundation seeks to build a more just and equitable society by nurturing a movement of low-wage families that engages communities across the United States and forwards an agenda that puts families first.
